Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) Kano, on Thursday 11th August 2022 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Coconut Learning LTD- UK as part of an effort to promote E-learning.
The MoU which was signed virtually, was witnessed by representatives of the two institutions.
In his opening remarks, The President MAAUN, Kano, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr said the university commenced academic activities in 2021 with four schools namely School of Computing, School of Health Sciences, School of Nursing Sciences and School of Social and Management Sciences.
According to him, the reason behind signing the MoU is to provide a World class learning management system with mobile applications.
He said the collaboration would also provide the opportunity of providing a modern learning approach to university education in the country.
In his presentation at the occasion, the Executive Director, Coconut Learning LTD- UK, Mr. Meet Kotadia said the idea of coconut learning was born out of some difficulties and challenges he faced at that time. The challenges gave birth to coconut learning.
Kotadia said Coconut learning is an e-learning centre, it is an Application where student and Lecturer can meet for studies and assessment easily at their own time frame.
He said coconut learning provides a software online to make learning easy, the software helps students choose courses, study time, and write their examination all online.
"The application makes it easier for students to contact their Lecturer and also students' progress can be tracked via the application.
"The interesting part of coconut learning is the fact that after the conclusion of studies, certificates will be generated automatically," Kotadia said.
Also speaking, the Vice President Administration of MAAUN Kano, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, who expressed appreciation over the signing of the MoU, noted that the collaboration will open the door for E-learning in the institution.
He recalled how the COVD-19 pandemic affected many Universities and other institutions that were not prepared for e-learning, stressing that modern learning approach remains the only panacea to the problem of learning these days because globalization has been able to bring different people together across the globe.
He said the collaboration would pave way for advanced learning for students of MAAUN which is being obtained in the 21st century across the world.
In his remarks, the Founder/ President, IAMA, Dr. Bikash Sharma lauded the Founder and Chairman Governing Council of MAAUN for his effort and commitment towards promoting education.
In his vote of Thank, the Head International Office MAAUN, Engr. Bashir Muhammed Garba expressed hope that the partnership would yield the desired result.
