European Centre Organizes Training Workshop For MAAUN Kano Students


The European Center for Leadership and Entrepreneurship Education (ECLEE) in partnership with Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, has launched a two-week training workshop for the students of the University on problem identification and solution implementation.

The workshop, which started on Monday, 23rd January, 2023, at the School of Computing, was aimed at guiding the students on how to apply critical thinking and communication skills to identify problems as well as evaluate their success in real time.

In his presentation, Director at ECLEE, Prof. Mahamouda Salouhu, said the program was initiated in order to address the growing skills mismatch which is prevalent among the young graduates in Africa.

Prof. Salouhu, who doubles as the co-founder of Jagora University, Cameroon, said that the professionalization program was designed to expose the students to different employability skills which would in turn help them discover their talent and guide their choice of appropriate model while addresing real society problems.

He said upon completion of the training, all participants would be issued with a certificate of attendance which would give them the opportunity to secure job placement anywhere in the world as the certificate is recognized globally.

Earlier, the Senior Information Officer of MAAUN, Dr. Musa Abdullahi Sufi lauded the Founder and Chairman Governing Council of MAAUN conglomerate, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo for bringing the program to the university as part of an effort to promote internationalisation.

Dr. Sufi added that the seminar would also give the students the opportunity to compete favourably with their peers as they would be linked up with the network of international experts for building skills and value addition.

He expressed commitment to coaching the young talents through project-based learning to enable them become solution-oriented students for the development of the society.

Highlights of the program include, group discussion, brainstorming and presentation on various societal challenges by the participating students.

The top management staff of MAAUN that graced the occasion was the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar and two officials from ECLEE, Dr. Naji Belhachmi and Dr. Aicha Mekentichi.
