Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Niger Maradi (MAAUN-MARADI) on Thursday, 25th August 2022, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Air University (AU) Pakistan on academic, scientific and cultural cooperation.
The Vice President of MAAUN-MARADI, Dr. Shu'aibu Usman Tanko signed the MoU on behalf of his University while the Vice Chancellor of AU Pakistan, Dr. Javaid Ahmed Iqbal signed on behalf of his University.
Speaking during the signing of the document which was conducted virtually, the Vice President of MAAUN-MARADI, Dr. Shuaibu Tanko said the partnership would be a beneficial relationship on academic, scientific and cultural
cooperation.
According to him, the areas of cooperation also include the exchange of faculty professors between the two universities in addition to exchange of faculty members with the objective of offering courses in a mutually beneficial relationship.
According to him, the signing of the agreement would give the two universities the opportunity to support each other in activities of common interest like exchange of undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as exchange of researchers with a view to realizing research projects.
Dr. Tanko further said the collaboration would significantly contribute to the development of the two universities especially in the areas of joint research projects and joint publications among others.
He said MAAUN-MARADI, which started academic activities with eight schools, has so far graduated over 5,000 students since it was established in 2013.
Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor of AU, Dr. Javaid Ahmed Iqbal said the university has many collaborations with other universities across the globe.
According to him, AU has so far graduated over 1000 students who are currently undertaking research in various fields of studies.
He expressed confidence that the MoU would give the two universities the opportunity to achieve a lot in the areas of research and innovation for academic excellence.
Also in his remarks, the Director Academics of AU, Dr. Tariq Matin who disclosed that the university has nine Faculties added that it has the required facilities to enable it handle the courses effectively.
According to him, the courses include Health Sciences, Business Management Sciences, Computing, Engineering, Social Sciences and Basic and Applied Sciences, among others.
He, therefore, pledged the commitment of the university towards ensuring effective implementation of the collaboration for the benefit of the two universities.
In her vote of thanks, the International Collaboration Officer, Ms. Javeria Khan lauded the effort of the two universities for agreeing to partner with each other and prayed that the partnership would promote academic excellence.
Among the officials that witnessed the virtual meeting were Engr. Bashir Mohammed Garba Head of International Office of MAAUN, Director International Collaboration Office of AU, Dr. Irtiza Ali Shah, International Collaboration Office Officer of AU, Ms Areefa Fatima, Registrar of AU, Dr. Abdul Wahab Motla, Director ORIC, Dr. A. Fazal Ahmed Khan and Director QEC, Dr. Ahmed Hassan.
