Pantami commissions MAAUN School of Computing Complex named after him


The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami on Sunday, 28th August, 2022, officially commissioned the School of Computing named after him at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano.

The Founder and Chairman Governing Council of MAAUN, Kano, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo named the School "Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami School of Computing" in order to honour the reputable Professor of Cybersecurity.


Speaking after the commissioning of the edifice, Prof. Ibrahim Pantami commended the Founder and Proprietor of the university, Prof. Gwarzo for establishing the university which is the best private university not only in Nigeria but in Africa at large.

The Minister, who expressed his delightfulness and appreciation over the naming of the school after him, prayed for the success of the entire faculty, the students as well as the university.


Prof. Pantami further commended Prof. Gwarzo for establishing a first class "Educational Dynasty" in Kano State, Nigeria. 

Pantami who, expressed his commitment to academia, confirmed that he still teaches and superviseds various postgraduate works despite being a serving Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He thanked Prof. Gwarzo for the honor done to him and expressed appreciation over the facilities  that have been put in place in the university.

In his remarks, Prof. Gwarzo said the decision to name the School of Computing after the Minister was due to Pantami’s commitment and selfless services in shifting the country’s paradigm into the digital age when he served as NITDA Director General as well as his current position of Minister of Communication and Digital Economy.

“I came to know much about NITDA and its activities when Pantami was the head there. He achieved a lot in developing Nigeria’s Digital Economy and promoting technological aspects for the country to achieve greatness.

Among the important dignitaries that graced the occasion include 
Prof. Muhammad Bello Abubakar, Managing Director/ CEO Galaxy Backbone (GBB) and other officials of the Ministry.

During the visit, the Minister was received by the Founder and chairman Governing Council of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr and other Principal officers of the University.

After the commissioning edifice, the Minister signed the condolence register of late Hajiya Rekiatou Hassane Mossi and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Jannatul Firdaus.
