Maryam Abacha Requests MAAUN Kano to Appoint Sheikh Muhammad Hassan as the Chief Imam of its Friday Mosque

 


The Chairperson, Board of Trustees of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, Hajiya Dr Maryam Sani Abacha has requested the university management to appoint Sheik Muhammad Hassan, as the Chief Imam of the university's Friday Mosque.

Sheikh Hassan is the Imam at residence of late General Sani Abacha mosque located on Gidado Road, Nassarawa GRA, Kano.

The request for the appointment of Sheikh Hassan as the Chief Imam of MAAUN Friday Mosque was contained in a letter dated Tuesday 3 May, 2022, signed by Maryam Abacha and issued to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.

Dr Maryam Abacha said in the letter that the request was based on the fact that Sheikh Hassan has the requisite Islamic knowledge and qualification to lead prayers in the Mosque in view of the fact that he is a Quarnic memoriser as well as a trustworthy person.

According to her, Sheikh Hassan also has the requisite knowledge in Jurisprudence, Sharia as well as being fluent in Arabic language.

"So, we want to assure the world that Sheikh Muhammad Hassan is the Chief Imam of MAAUN Kano Friday Mosque. We wish to congratulate and rejoice with him and wish him God's guidance,"  Maryam Abacha said in the letter.

Sheikh Hassan was born in Gamborin Gala, Borno state in 1966. He completed his Quranic studies in 1972 and completed the Qur'anic memorisation in 1985.

Similarly, in 1991 he rewrote the Holy Quaran with his own hand and in 2018 he attended a conference of Chief Imams of Friday Mosques in Morocco.
