Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Air University (AU) Pakistan as Part of continuous efforts to link the institution with other Universities across the globe.
The signing ceremony which was conducted virtually on Thursday, 25th August 2022, was witnessed by officials of the two institutions while The President Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr signed on behalf of MAAUN, the Vice Chancellor of AU Pakistan, Dr. Javaid Ahmed Iqbal signed on behalf of his University.
Speaking during the signing of the document, the President of MAAUN, Kano, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr said the collaboration would facilitate exchange of faculty members with the objective of offering courses in a mutually beneficial relationship.
He said other scopes of the MoU include the exchange of faculty professors, scientific publications, study programs and academic projects,
According to him, the signing of the agreement would give the two universities the opportunity to support each other in activities of common interest like exchange of undergraduate and post graduate students as well as exchange of researchers with a view to realizing research projects.
Prof. Israr said the collaboration would also promote development of joint research projects and joint publications between the two universities.
In his remarks at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of AU, Dr. Javaid Ahmed Iqbal said the university has many collaborations with other universities across the world adding that the university had so far graduated over 1000 students who are currently undertaking research in various field of studies.
He expressed hope that the MoU would give the two universities the opportunity to achieve a lot in the areas of research and innovation for academic excellence.
Also speaking, the Vice President Administration MAAUN, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar expressed happiness that the collaboration would serve as an avenue for the exchange of research ideas between the two institutions.
He noted that the full implementation of the MoU would enable the two partners to gain a lot academically especially in the areas of Information Technology, Cyber security and machine learning.
In his presentation, the Director Academics AU, Dr. Tariq Matin who disclosed that the university has nine Faculties, said it has the required facilities to enable it handle the courses effectively.
According to him, the courses include Health Sciences, Business Management Sciences, Computing, Engineering, Social Sciences and Basic and Applied Sciences, among others.
He, therefore, pledged the commitment of the university towards ensuring effective implementation of the collaboration for the benefit of the two institutions.
In her vote of thanks, the International Collaboration Officer, Ms. Javeria Khan lauded the effort of the two universities for agreeing to partner with each other and pray that the partnership would promote academic excellence.
