Professionalization Workshop: European Centre presents certificates on problem-solving skills to MAAUN Students


The European Center for Leadership and Entrepreneurship Education (ECLEE) has presented certificates to the students of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, who attended its two-week training workshop on the professionalization program.

The workshop, which was held from Monday, 23rd January to Friday, 3rd February, 2023 at MAAUN, was part of the renewed effort by the University to promote internationalization.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, the Director of ECLEE, Prof. Mahamouda Salouhu, said the students have exhibited a high level of intellectuality, creativity, and inquisitiveness during the program which enabled them to identify real problems and proffer solutions to them.

He said the certificates issued to the students would boost their employability opportunities and help them secure job placement anywhere in the world as the certificate is recognized worldwide.

Prof. Salouhu, who doubles as the co-founder of Jagora University, Cameroon, noted that the seminar was in line with MAAUN's mission of producing a generation of job creators and solution-oriented students.

He lauded Prof Gwarzo, for providing the avenue for breeding generational leaders through capacity building and professionalization programs.

Earlier in his remarks,  Prof. Gwarzo, described professionalization as the future of Africa, saying it is the key to building young talents that will develop the continent.

He expressed commitment to inculcating in MAAUN students the spirit of internationalization to help them achieve their desired career goals.

According to him, a degree certificate is not a solution on its own, but in addition, students should have some professional certifications to enable them to become relevant in their chosen careers.

Some top management staff present at the occasion were the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, Vice President Finance, (Dr.) Abdulrasaq Kayode, Director, Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Nura A. Yaro, and Vice Chancellor, Elite University, Prof. Moussa, Niamey.

Others were the Head, of Corporate Communication and Protocol Unit, Engr. Bashir Garba, Dr. Salisu Mahmoudu of MAAUN Maradi, Ismail Aliyu Darma,  Aliyu Kakaki, Yunusa Umar Teacher, Samira Hassan, Maryam Jibril and Nura M. Inuwa, among others.
