Prof. Gwarzo condoles family, Nigerian government over the death of Amb. Rabiu Akawau



The President of Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo has condoled with the family of Ambassador Rabi’u Akawu, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria-Niger Joint Commission, who passed away in Niamey on Sunday, 4th December 2022.

In a statement issued in Kano on Sunday, Prof. Gwarzo expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Niger Republic over the death of the diplomat.

Prof. Gwarzo, who is the Founder and Chairman, Governing Council of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, (MAAUN), described the demise of the diplomat as a great loss not only to his immediate family, but Nigeria and Niger Republic.

"It’s with a heavy heart that I received the news of the sudden death of Amb. Rabiu Akawau, who passed away today. (Sunday).

"On behalf of my family and Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN), I wish to extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family, government of Nigeria and Niger Republic over the passing on of the diplomat.

"I also want to use this opportunity to specifically condole President Muhammadu Buhari over this great loss. May the Almighty Allah give the family the emotional strength to bear the irreparable loss," he said.

Prof. Gwarzo, who is also the President of Association of African Private Universities (AAPU) prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed.
