The President of Maryam Abacha American University of Niger (MAAUN), Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has condoled with the family, people of Gwarzo and Kano State government over death of an elder statesman, Alhaji Suleiman Abdullahi Chikadawa, who was popularly known as Alhaji Datti Gwarzo.
Aged 94, Alhaji Datti Gwarzo passed away at Gwarzo town on Thursday night, 17th November 2022 after a brief illness.
The condolence message was contained in a statement signed by Prof. Gwarzo and made available to newsmen in Kano on Friday.
Prof. Gwarzo, who is the Founder and Chairman, Governing Council of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, (MAAUN), also expressed his deepest and heartfelt condolence to one of the deceased's children, Dr. Usman Magaji Gwarzo, a renowned Public Health physician.
He described the demise of the elder statesman as a great loss not only to his immediate family, but to the entire Gwarzo local government area, Karaye Emirate and Kano State as a whole.
"So, on behalf of my family and Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN), I wish to extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the people of Gwarzo local government, Karaye Emirate and Kano State Government on the passing on of the elder statesman and our father.
"I also want to use this opportunity to specifically condole the renowned physician, Dr. Usman Magaji Gwarzo, on the death of his father. May the Almighty Allah give the entire family the fortitude to bear the huge loss," Prof. Gwarzo said in the condolence message.
Prof. Gwarzo, who is also the President of Association of African Private Universities (AAPU) prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive and grant the deceased the highest level of Jannah (Jannatul Firdaus).
The deceased, who left behind 17 children including Dr. Usman Magaji Gwarzo, was buried in Gwarzo in accordance with the Islamic rites on Friday, 18th November 2022.
