Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, (MAAUN) on Wednesday, 28th September 2022, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU), Jodhpur, India on academic, scientific and cultural cooperation.
The MoU was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr and Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar on behalf of MAAUN Nigeria while Prof. K. L. Shrivastava and Gomati Sharma signed on behalf of JNVU.
Speaking at the occasion which was conducted virtually, the President of MAAUN Nigeria, Prof. Mohammad Israr said the the two Universities have agreed to establish a mutually beneficial relationship on academic, scientific and cultural cooperation.
He said other areas of the collaboration include the exchange of faculty professors, researchers, students, publications, academic programs as well as research projects.
Prof. Israr said other scopes of the MoU signed with JNVU include exchange of undergraduate and post-Graduate students with the objective of enrolling students in courses appropriate to their area of study.
According to him, the partnership would give the two institutions the opportunity to support to each other in activities of common interest like exchange of books, scientific publications, study programs, academic projects, program information, webinars, seminars, conferences and any other data and information of common interest.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of JNVU, Prof. K. L. Shrivastava who made a visual presentation on the University, said the University which is one of the best Universities in India, was established in 1962 to promote research activities.
He said the University which has many Faculties, had been able to establish linkages on academic collaboration with many Universities across the world.
Prof. Shrivastava, who, expressed delight over the signing of the MoU, said he looked forward to seeing the full implementation of the partnership.
Also speaking, the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar described the occasion as a historic moment in which three renowned Universities came together for mutual cooperation.
He, therefore, urged the three Universities to work together so as to ensure effective implementation of the MoU especially in the areas of production of high quality research and innovation for the promotion of academic excellence, school, faculty and students exchange programs.
In his remarks, the Director, KNCW, JNVU, Prof. Sangeeta Loonkar, said the collaboration would promote academic excellences while the students exchange program would give students the opportunity to become "citizens of the world".
She, therefore, stressed the need for the three institutions to work towards ensuring the success of the MoU in view of its numerous benefits.
The Director, IES, JNVU, Prof K. A. Goyal said the signing of the MoU would enhance academic excellences in addition to promoting research, innovation in the Universities.
"With the signing of the Memorundum of Understanding, it is hope that institution will grow academically," Prof. Goyal said.
In a vote of thanks, the Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education Research (IAHERI), Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna assured that MAAUN- Nigeria and MAAUN-MARADI would give all the necessary support and cooperation to JNVU for the successful implementation of the MoU.
The Director oted that the collaboration would benefit the two universities especially in the areas of faculty and students exchange programs.
Also in her vote of thanks, the Registrar of JNVU, Shrimati Gomati Sharma, congratulated the three Universities on the signing of the MoU.
She specifically congratulated the President of MAAUN Nigeria, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr and the Vice Chancellor of JNVU, Prof. K. L. Shrivastava as well as other top Management Staff of MAAUN Nigeria and JNVU, India, for their commitment to ensure that the signing of the MoU became a reality.
He noted that the collaboration would benefit the two universities especially in the areas of faculty and students exchange programs.
The signing of the MoU was also attended by Engr. Bashir Mohammed Garba, Head International Office of MAAUN Nigeria, Dr. Abdullahi Garba Abdullahi, Coordinator, General Education, who expressed confidence that the agreement would enhance academic excellence in the Universities.
