Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune, India sign MoU on academic excellence



Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, on Wednesday, 27th July 2022, signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune India as part of renewed efforts to promote internationalization for academic excellence.

The signing of MoU which was conducted virtually, was witnessed by the representatives of the two universities.

Speaking at the occasion, The President of MAAUN Kano, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, said the National Universities Commission (NUC) issued a License to the University on Monday, 15th February, 2021 and currently offers courses at four Schools namely: School of Computing, School of Health Sciences, School of Nursing Sciences and the School of Social and Management Sciences.

He said the collaboration between the two institutions would focus on Research and Development, publications and relevant scholarly and academic works, sponsorship of Seminars and Workshops as well as Exchange of Faculty and Students.

In his remarks, the Registrar of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune India, Mr. G Jayakumar described the collaboration as a very crucial one in view of the fact that Nigeria and the university have a long-standing relationship.

He pointed out that Nigeria had awarded scholarships to no fewer than 25 Students to study in the institution adding that Nigerian students have been good ambassadors of their country.

According to him, the collaboration would promote Faculty association, innovation and mutual benefit between the two universities.
He, therefore, expressed optimism that the partnership would strengthen the bond between the university and Nigeria.

Also speaking, the Vice President Administration of MAAUN, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar expressed confidence that the MoU would yield significant development in the areas of research and exchange of Faculties.

He assured that the partnership would also promote academic excellence as Maryam Abacha American University has a history of academic excellence and expressed hope that MAAUN would be the leading research center and innovation.

Dr. Awais Abubakar congratulated the two institutions for signing the agreement which is aimed at promoting academic excellence.

Among those who also attended the virtual MoU signing ceremony include Vice Chancellor of the Bharati Vidyapeeth, Dr Manikrao Salunkhe, Dr. Kirti Mahajan, Director, International Students Cell and Welfare and Engr. Bashir Muhammad Garba, Head International Office, MAAUN Kano, Nigeria.
